Screening for Plagiarism

Common Senses: Social & Humanities Journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and originality.

All submitted manuscripts are subject to similarity screening as part of the editorial assessment process. Similarity checks are conducted to identify potential plagiarism, inappropriate text reuse, duplicate publication, and other forms of publication misconduct.

What We Consider Unacceptable

The journal does not accept manuscripts containing:

• plagiarism of another person's work;
• unattributed use of ideas, data, images, or text;
• substantial text recycling without proper citation;
• duplicate or redundant publication;
• simultaneous submission to multiple journals; or
• other forms of academic misconduct.

The journal also considers inappropriate self-plagiarism or substantial reuse of previously published material without proper acknowledgment to be an ethical concern.

Similarity Assessment

Similarity reports are evaluated by the editorial team as part of a broader assessment of manuscript originality and academic integrity.

A similarity score alone does not automatically determine whether a manuscript is acceptable or unacceptable. Editors consider the nature, source, context, and extent of the similarities identified.

Legitimate similarities may occur in:

• references and bibliographies;
• standard methodological descriptions;
• properly quoted and cited material;
• institutional names, titles, or technical terminology; and
• other academically acceptable forms of overlap.

Editorial Action

Where substantial similarity or potential plagiarism is identified, the editorial team may:

• request clarification from the author;
• request revision and correction of citations;
• reject the manuscript; or
• initiate further investigation in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics policy.

If plagiarism or other forms of publication misconduct are discovered after publication, the journal may issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction as appropriate.

Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all submitted work is original and that all sources are properly cited and acknowledged.

Submission of a manuscript to Common Senses constitutes the author's confirmation that the work is original, has not been plagiarized, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
